Summary

A stunning new hardcover edition--with a full linen case, copper stamping, gilded edges, and colored endpapers--of one of the world's most beloved and popular spiritual classics, featuring a new foreword by Rupi Kaur, the multimillion-copy, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Milk and Honey and The Sun and Her Flowers

"This book cracked my heart wide open。 And I think it's going to do the same to yours。" --Rupi Kaur, from the Foreword

The most famous work of spiritual fiction of the twentieth century, The Prophet is rooted in Kahlil Gibran's own experience as an immigrant and provides inspiration to anyone feeling adrift in a world in flux。 As a prophet named Almustafa is about to board a ship to travel back to his homeland after twelve years in exile, he is stopped by a group of people who ask him to share his wisdom before he leaves。 In twenty-eight poetic essays, he does so, offering profound and timeless insights on many aspects of life, including love, pain, friendship, family, beauty, religion, joy, sorrow, and death。

An immediate success when first published in 1923, The Prophet is a modern classic, having been translated into more than forty languages and sold more than ten million copies in the United States alone。 The message it imparts, of finding divinity through love, made it the bible of 1960s culture and continues to touch hearts and minds across generations and national borders。 This edition is illustrated with twelve of Gibran's famous visionary paintings and features a foreword by Rupi Kaur。

In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures。
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed。

Then a young girl said, speak to us of fashion。And he answered:What is fashion if not the reflection of god's love for life and spirit for it is god that speaks unto the soul with fashion and man unto God。Then a middle aged man stepped forth and said speak to us of sitcoms, Sitcoms is to man what man is to God for it is god that dwells in every moment of life and spirit as man dwells in every moment of his beloved show and takes upon him and his soul such that his spirit beckons wings and glides Then a young girl said, speak to us of fashion。And he answered:What is fashion if not the reflection of god's love for life and spirit for it is god that speaks unto the soul with fashion and man unto God。Then a middle aged man stepped forth and said speak to us of sitcoms, Sitcoms is to man what man is to God for it is god that dwells in every moment of life and spirit as man dwells in every moment of his beloved show and takes upon him and his soul such that his spirit beckons wings and glides in the love and joy of its moments as God does unto the soul of man。What is this book!!? I thought the writing was very beautiful and it read poetically。 I thought the statements, though beautiful, were not very new, or unique, but the way they were written made them sound very new。 My main problem was that it did not settle on one belief system。 It stayed within a grey area of many religions in what seemed like a way to please everyone rather than speak truth。 There was truth in this book, but sometimes, it felt wishy-washy。 I’m glad I read it, though。

Profound words is beautiful poetic verses。 This book is a message that can be read by anyone at any point of time and will strike a chord within everyone。I can't say that the way I think and see things is completely in line with what's said in this book or that it has changed my life, but it has definitely widened my perspective and given me the option of seeing life in a more positive light。 Profound words is beautiful poetic verses。 This book is a message that can be read by anyone at any point of time and will strike a chord within everyone。I can't say that the way I think and see things is completely in line with what's said in this book or that it has changed my life, but it has definitely widened my perspective and given me the option of seeing life in a more positive light。 。。。more

I don't honestly know how to review The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran without being emotional about it。 It's a beautiful collection of twenty-six poetic essays dealing with almost every moment in one's lifetime, ranging from love, work, marriage, children, joy and sorrow, good and evil, crime and punishment and beyond。 We learn about these sensitive topics through the words of an erudite, mystical Prophet who carries the wisdom of a man whose knowledge about human life seems dumbfounding。 I am not on I don't honestly know how to review The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran without being emotional about it。 It's a beautiful collection of twenty-six poetic essays dealing with almost every moment in one's lifetime, ranging from love, work, marriage, children, joy and sorrow, good and evil, crime and punishment and beyond。 We learn about these sensitive topics through the words of an erudite, mystical Prophet who carries the wisdom of a man whose knowledge about human life seems dumbfounding。 I am not one to debate whether or not was this book religious since I concerned myself with the majestic messages it shared with me。 It made me look at life through a unique glass in a most hauntingly gorgeous manner。 Perhaps it would be a good idea to skim through each essay as I proceed with every new chapter in my life。 I was a bit skeptical about picking it up as I had never read a philosophical book before。 But since I'm a sucker for breathtaking metaphors, The Prophet turned out to be a savory delight! 。。。more

。 This book became popular in the 80's I believe。 I just did not find any sense to it and could not get past a few chapters。 I tried to read it again and still feel the same。 。 This book became popular in the 80's I believe。 I just did not find any sense to it and could not get past a few chapters。 I tried to read it again and still feel the same。 。。。more

Just listened to the audiobook on a long drive。 It's a beautiful fable of poetry and prose, that I will be adding it to my list of books that I'll be reading and listening to this over and over again throughout my lifetime。 It's one of those books where I suspect you will take something different away at each stage in one's life。 Highly recommend the audio book on Audible with Riz Ahmed narrating。 Just listened to the audiobook on a long drive。 It's a beautiful fable of poetry and prose, that I will be adding it to my list of books that I'll be reading and listening to this over and over again throughout my lifetime。 It's one of those books where I suspect you will take something different away at each stage in one's life。 Highly recommend the audio book on Audible with Riz Ahmed narrating。 。。。more

One of those classics of inspirational, spiritual writing that I've only just gotten around to reading。 A number of passages resonated strongly with my current life journey and imagine other bits are likely to hit home when read on another occasion。 The sort of book that is good to have on hand when you need a little shoring up during a difficult or challenging passage。 One of those classics of inspirational, spiritual writing that I've only just gotten around to reading。 A number of passages resonated strongly with my current life journey and imagine other bits are likely to hit home when read on another occasion。 The sort of book that is good to have on hand when you need a little shoring up during a difficult or challenging passage。 。。。more

I'm not a poetry guy and I didn't feel anything after reading every chapter。 After taken my time and contemplate this book overall I feel that it is important to try reading and experience new things as in my case now with the Prophet。 I conclude this mini-review that even though this work is regarded as "classic" it is not a guarantee that it will hit every reader。 Footnote though to be fair is that i read the Swedish translation of this book from 2019 and i suppose the experience surely will b I'm not a poetry guy and I didn't feel anything after reading every chapter。 After taken my time and contemplate this book overall I feel that it is important to try reading and experience new things as in my case now with the Prophet。 I conclude this mini-review that even though this work is regarded as "classic" it is not a guarantee that it will hit every reader。 Footnote though to be fair is that i read the Swedish translation of this book from 2019 and i suppose the experience surely will be diffrent if you read this on the language it was written on。 。。。more

Un libro bello de leer, delicado en su expresividad。 Dividido en temáticas como el amor, la amistad, el matrimonio, en trabajo, etc。 No me pareció sentencioso sino más bien una visión personal sobre cada tema。
